Why choose St Joseph's?
St Joseph's is a small, happy family orientated school that provides a safe and stimulating environment where all children can thrive. Children can join us in our nursery class at age 3, which makes moving to Reception very easy. We have high standards of behaviour, excellent extra-curricular activities and a curriculum that really makes learning fun! We welcome applications from families of all faiths and none.
We also received high praise from Ofsted in our recent inspection. The inspection was an ungraded one following the last full inspection in 2013 where the school was judged to be ‘good’ however inspectors commented, “St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School continues to be a good school. There is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged ‘outstanding’ if we were to carry out a graded (section 5) inspection now.”
The Ofsted report also states, “Pupils achieve exceptionally well and thrive at St Joseph’s. This is because leaders and staff want the best of the best for all pupils. Parents said that their children grow into kind, well rounded young people who care about their friends and community.”
St Joseph’s became a Forest School in 2022 and as such, children benefit from an outdoor education programme in which all students are given the opportunity to use outdoor natural spaces to learn personal, social, and technical skills. The school was also awarded the Silver Quality Mark for History in 2022 from the Historical Association.
