Minibeasts

 

In Nursery we will be learning about God's marvellous minibeasts. In addition to all of the wonderful learning opportunities below, Nursery class are hoping to have many magical moments to share with your children.

 

 

Personal, Social and Emotional

  • Children will be given the opportunity to develop their confidence in new situations.
  • Children will be encouraged to consider the needs of others.
  • Children will be able to choose from a wide range of resources.
  • Children will have the opportunity to talk about their own feelings.

 

Communication and Language including Literacy

 

  • We will celebrate the work of a variety of authors and enjoy lots of rhyming stories.
  • The children will use puppets and props linking to familiar stories.
  • Children will engage in activities that will encourage them to experiment with writing.
  • Read, write, inc games and Fred talk.

 

Physical Development

 

  • Children will manipulate different tools and equipment.
  • Children will negotiate space and different ways of moving.
  • Children will be able to observe the effects that physical activity has on their bodies.
  • Encourage independence skills, such as helping to dress.

 

Understanding the World

  • We will enjoy joining in with family customs and celebrations.
  • We will encourage families to share any experiences and pictures.
  • We will develop an understanding of growth.

 

Mathematics

  • ​​​​​​​We will use natural objects to help us to explore quantities and to count each item.
  • Children will compare difference and similarities using language to describe measures.
  • Children will engage in different ways to make pattern.
  • Learn numbers 1-10 using songs and stories.

 

Expressive Arts and Design

  • We will explore colour and the way that it changes.
  • We will tap out rhymes and rhythms.
  • Children will use their own ideas in imaginative play.
  • Children will use different media for their own creations.

 

Religious Education

  • ​​​​​​​This half term we will be learning about Lent. We will learn about the relationship between Jesus and his father and that he loved him.
  • We will learn to say sorry when we fail to show love and care.
  • We will work hard to follow our school virtues of being Intentional and Prophetic.

 

Amazing Animals

In Nursery we will be learning about God's amazing animals from around the world. In addition to all of the wonderful learning opportunities below, Nursery class are hoping to have many magical moments to share with your children.

We are hoping to have visits from a variety of furry friends over the half term, including Mrs Duff's fur baby, Rosie.

TOP SECRET information: We will hopefully be visiting Pets at Home and purchasing a class pet, watch this space........

  • Children will make their own choices and carry out small tasks to encourage positive self-esteem.
  • Work together to explore, building up positive relationships with their peers.
  • Develop skills for sharing and turn taking.

  • Listening activities to distinguish different sounds.
  • Use different natural tools for mark making.
  • Join in with repetitive phrases songs and rhymes.
  • Read, write, inc games and Fred talk.

 

Physical Development

 

  • Explore different ways of movement and spatial awareness.
  • Develop cutting skills by holding scissors correctly.
  • Funky fingers activities to develop fine motor skills for writing.
  • Encourage independence skills, such as helping to dress.

 

Understanding the World

  • We will focus on the natural world animals from different climates.
  • Children will learn how to take care of animals and the natural world around us.
  • We will investigate how things grow and change.

 

Mathematics

  • ​​​​​​​Explore patterns and 2D shapes in the environment.
  • Use different natural resources for counting and measuring.
  • Compare objects using vocabulary to describe size and shape.
  • Learn numbers 1-10 using songs and stories.

 

Expressive Arts and Design

  • Children will make props for role-play.
  • Children will construct using a wide range of resources.
  • We will use musical instruments to explore different sounds.
  • Children will use different media for their own creations.

 

Religious Education

  • ​​​​​​​We will explore how we are part of God's family and say thank you with our daily prayer.
  • We will experience celebrations from other cultures.
  • We will work hard to follow our schools virtues of being Curious and Active.
