At St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, we want every child to be happy and enthusiastic learners of Mathematics, and to be eager to achieve their very best in order to fulfil their God-given talents. We firmly believe that the recipe for success is high quality first-wave teaching in Mathematics, which is central to the life of our happy, caring school.

Power Maths

Our Maths lessons use the 'Power Maths' scheme as a basis for our teaching and learning, as well as supplementing our lessons with resources from the NCETM (National Centre for Excellent in the Teaching of Maths) and the White Rose Maths Hub, among others sources.

"Power Maths is a UK curriculum mastery programme designed to spark curiosity and excitement and nurture confidence in maths [and is] written specifically for UK curriculum classrooms by leading mastery experts from around the world and recommended by the UK’s Department for Education." The Power Maths characters grow as they move through each Key Stage, sharing a range of growth-mindset characteristics that our children identify with as they continue their own Maths adventure.
