Our school day and procedures

In this section you can find out useful information regarding our school timings and procedures.

Arrival

The School Gates open at 8.40am.  At this time the Principal or Vice Principal will be out on the playground to welcome the children and a member of staff on each door to welcome the relevant class.

If children arrive after 8.50am, when the last class arrives they will have to report to the office and will be marked as 'late' in the register.  Please use the free car park on Fairfield Road when dropping off and collecting children – only use Springfield Road if your child is coming in or leaving school during school hours.

The school day begins at 8.40am when the gates open, lessons start at 8.50am and finish at 3.30pm.

Before School Club : 7.30am – 8.45am

After School Club: 3.30pm - 6pm

ABSENCE PROCEDURES

If your child is unwell please try to telephone or email (office@st-josephs-uttoxeter.staffs.sch.uk) the school before 8:30am to report the absence.  We operate a safe child policy and if a child is absent and we have not been notified you, we will text and or ring you.

Home School Links

Children have a book in their bags which is used as a reading diary and form of two-way communication between parent and teacher.  Parents are also kept informed of learning in class through the app Tapestry.  Tapestry is an online learning journal.  Parents download the app and it allows them to view and contribute to their journal.  Class Dojo is another app that informs parents about what is happening in class.

Medicines

Medicines are not administered in school. Parents are welcome to administer medication at lunchtime if necessary.

Inhalers

Should your child require an inhaler whilst attending our school, please complete an Asthma Care Plan form.

 PE

On the day of the week that your child has PE, they should come to school in their PE Kit.  This saves time during the day and means that the children are active for their full 2 hours of physical activity each week.

SCHOOL LUNCHES

Our school lunches are prepared and cooked on site. Under the Government Universal Free School Meals Initiative, meals are free for all children in Reception Class up to and including Year 2.

For children in Year 3 and Year 4 the cost of school meal is £2.50 per day.

For children in Nursery, children bring a packed lunch.

If your child has any food allergies please speak to the school office.  The children are taken to the hall, by their class teacher; they are helped to carry their tray and are encouraged to eat as much as they can.   Children are very well supervised and looked after!
