Summer Term
RE
In RE will be studying the following units:
Easter, Pentecost, Sharing in the Life of Christ, Special Roles and Responsibilities and Jesus Teaches us How to Pray.
Maths
Decimals - tenths and hundreths, dividing by 10 and 100.
Money - Write money using deimals, convert between pounds and pence, compare amounts and calculate with money.
Time - Read analogue and digital time and convert between the two, convert units of measure involved with time.
Shape - Angles, classify shapes and recognise lines of symmetry.
Statistics - Interpret and draw charts and graphs.
Position and direction - describe position, plot co-ordinates and translate on a grid.
English
In English we will be focussing on the following genres - Narrative, recount and persuasive writing. We will be using all of the grammar taught so far in our independent writing, focussing on the correct use of speech punctuation, fronted adverbials and use of conjunctions. We will continue to work on our reading skills in Guided reading using a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts, increasing our fluency and developing our inference skills. We will start the term by reading the text Song for A Whale.
History
In History we will be learning about the Ancient Egyptians, focussing on what made them such a powerful civilisation. We will be using a range of historical skills whilst exploring timelines and artefacts. We also have an exciting Egytian workshop full day experience to look forward to which will enhance our learning.
Geography
In Geography, we will be learning about Rivers. We will be learning about the different parts of a river and using our Geographical skills to locate rivers in the UK on maps and atlases.
Science
In Science, we will be learning about Sound in the first half term and then Living Things and their Habitats in the second half term. We will leanr how sound travels and explore how different pitched sounds are created. Throughout the term, we will carry out a number of scientific investigations to enhance our understanding.
Design and Technology
In D&T, we will be designing, making and evaluating a pavilion, using a variety of skills that we practiced last term. Then we will move onto creating a light up book cover which will use skills that we have previously developed in Science lessons.
Art
Our artist focus for this term is Henry Moore. We will be developinmg our observatrional drawing skills, making use of line and tone. We will then create a human form sculpture in teh style of Henry Moore.
