Keeping Children Safe is Everyone's Responsibility...

Most children enjoy generally safe and happy childhood experiences within their own family but unfortunately for some, this is not the case.
We all have a duty to protect children and this page will help you to access support if you are concerned that a child or young person is at risk of harm. Remember - you can always come to us to ask for advice and we will either be able to help you ourselves or point you in the right direction.

Worries You May Have About A Child

Who can help?
Reporting a Concern
We all have a duty to protect children and young people from harm. If you have any concerns about a child or young person, it is always best to share them.
If you think a child is in immediate danger, contact the police on 999.
Staffordshire Police:
Telephone: 101
In an emergency always call 999
If a child is not in immediate danger but at risk of harm,
contact Staffordshire Children's Advice and Support Team.
Staffordshire Families Integrated Front Door (SFIFD):
Phone: 0300 111 8007
Open: Monday to Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm and Friday 9:00am-4:30pm
Emergency Duty Service:

Telephone: 0345 604 2886
What will happen next?
Social workers will follow up every report where they believe a child may be at risk of harm. They will talk to other people who know the child and may be able to provide a clearer picture. This includes teachers, health visitors and members of the child's family.
After this several things could happen:
- No further action will be taken
- Help and support will be offered to the family
- An investigation will take place
Operation Encompass

We are an Operation Encompass school.
Our school is part of Operation Encompass which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces.
Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse.
As a school, we have ensured that a member of our staff, (Mrs S. Haenelt) known as a Key Adult, has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the children in our care.
Further Advice:

The NSPCC is a registered charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK. On their website you can find advice on how you can keep children safe, where to go for help, and the latest news stories relating to child safety.
